As an industry first, BESA has been working in collaboration with CIBSE, NBS, and RICS to unify and align respective SFG20, Guide M, Uniclass and NRM industry data structures in our Asset Mapping Product.

What is SFG20's Asset Mapping Tool?

At its core, the new Asset Mapping tool saves you time, energy and money by allowing you to upload either an IFC (Industry Foundation Class) or excel file which then automatically selects the relevant SFG20 maintenance schedule for that asset. Asset Mapping requires the Service Model level subscription to operate. 

In conjunction with SFG20's Resource Modeller, you can produce indicative annualised costs of maintenance, along with quantifying the actual planned preventative maintenance and resource requirements.

SFG20 is working in partnership with NBS, the leading specification platform for the construction industry, to help drive digital adoption throughout the building lifecycle.

What is Resource Modeller?

A powerful solution, Resource Modeller has been developed for anyone working in Facilities Management who needs to estimate maintenance costs and labour requirements.

How does Asset Mapping work?

Step 1: Upload

  • Upload a (BIM) IFC file with defined industry classifications using naming convention or
  • Upload SFG20 data template (MS excel) with asset data list, including SFG20 schedule code or SFG20 asset type into SFG20 system
    • Using SFG20 standard template or
    • Current asset lists by renaming data fields to match import requirements

Step 2: Map

  • Use SFG20 Asset Mapping software and industry classifications to automatically select the SFG20 schedule relevant to the asset to be maintained
  • Manual Mapping assign and override schedule selection after upload

Step 3: Model

  • Generate SFG20 Service Models detailing SFG20 maintenance schedules for assets upload
  • Use 3D model to physically see what needs to be maintained* (where using BIM model)
  • Model maintenance costs and resources for existing building portfolio or digital designs (using a relevant SFG20 Resource Modeller Subscription*)
